HCA STAFF
KindergartenBonnie ChaseBonnie joined the Hope Christian Academy staff in 1996 as the Kindergarten teacher sharing her love of Jesus with the upcoming generations. She is supported by her husband Jim of 40 years who retired from the USAF and Corning Inc. Together they have 9 children and 45 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. They both have been members of Hope Church since 1990 supporting and investing in our overseas missions and the next generation of leaders.

First GradeMichelle Morey
Michelle Morey joined the Hope Christian Academy staff in September of 2012. During her time on staff, she’s had the opportunity to teach grades K-3. Michelle is a mother to 5 daughters, and her experience homeschooling for a short time helped her discover her passion for teaching. Michelle met Jesus as a preteen and knows personally the value of planting God’s truth in young hearts. She loves investing in kids at HCA during the week, Hope Kids on Sunday mornings, and looks forward to being a Grandma soon. Her passion to see kids reach their potential both academically and spiritually fuels her as a teacher. She is excited to see the next generation step into the life and freedom Jesus has for them as they grow in relationship with Him! In addition to spending time with Laurence, her husband of nearly 30 years, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her favorite things to do are working out, hiking, reading, and putting that final piece in a jigsaw puzzle.

Second GradeTeahl Baldwin
Teahl Baldwin joined the team in 2022. She and her husband Josh have been married for 3 years. They have 2 beautiful little girls Justice and Madilyn. Teahl grew up hearing about Jesus in her Grandparents’ church but didn't pursue a personal relationship with him until she was 25. Prior to joining HCA, Teahl worked in many different private nursing facilities ranging from pediatric care to end of life care. She discovered her love of learning at a young age and still loves to learn new things. This led to her decision to start teaching. Her passion is to bring out the gifts and character in young kids, teaching them who God made them to be and the gifts He placed inside each of them. When she's not teaching, Teahl loves to be outside hiking, gardening, or adding to their family homestead. She also loves spending time with her kids,drinking coffee, and learning all she can about God.

Third GradeKelsey Schultes
Kelsey has been a teacher at HCA since 2018. She has her Bachelor's degree in Marketing, and loves opportunities to be creative and bring fun to the classroom. Kelsey has worked with children from a young age and has stepped into more of her purpose since teaching at Hope. She loves to build connections with students and see kids recognize their potential and discover who God made them to be. Kelsey grew up in a Catholic home, but did not know God personally until adulthood. After she and her husband Keyan got married in 2015, she started attending Hope Church and met Jesus that same year. God has since shown her how unconditionally loved and favored she is and how trustworthy and faithful He is! Now, she has a real, personal relationship with Him and is continuing to discover more of who He is in her daily life. When she isn't teaching, Kelsey enjoys coffee dates with her husband, caring for her three sweet kiddos, going for runs, or playing trivia.

Fourth GradeDelena Duffy
Delena Duffy spent her early years traveling the world as a dependent of an Air Force NCO and feels this has helped her develop a strong sense of adaptability and flexibility. She attributes her philosophy and outlook on life to the eastern influences introduced by her mother and the strong family unit instilled by her parents.
Delena began her professional career as an Army Officer and transitioned to Corning in 1999. Professionally, she loves process improvement and troubleshooting roles which translates into every aspect of life. She loves teaching at HCA because she has a heart for children and understands the value of imparting strong, healthy belief systems at a young age. |
Fifth GradeHannah Cuomo
Hannah recently joined the HCA staff in 2023. Previously, she worked at Watkins Glen High School as a Biology and Forensics teacher for middle and high school levels. She has a Bachelors’ degree in Biology and a Masters’ Degree and Certification for Adolescent Education in Biology. She also has experience teaching in the Syracuse City School District and the Marathon School District. Hannah grew up knowing of and accepting Jesus at a young age but made the personal decision to pursue a relationship with Him later in her adult years. Since that decision, she has experienced freedom and joy like never before. She is passionate about pursuing a closeness with God, listening for the Holy Spirits’ lead, and following His steps. She has a heart for people of all ages to experience an intimate relationship with Jesus and all of the good things that come from it. She and her husband Josh met at Hope Church in 2020 and were married in August, 2021. They are excited to be welcoming their first child in April of this year! Hannah loves to spend her free time with family and friends, playing games, and adventuring to new places.

6th, 7th, and 8th GradesMarissa Pionessa
Marissa is a former student of HCA attending 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. These are the grades she gets to teach now in the subjects of English Language Arts, History, and Spanish. She has been teaching at HCA since 2016 and has a Bachelor’s degree in social studies and adolescence education as well as a Master’s degree in literacy birth through 12th grade. She met Jesus, experienced God’s love for the first time, and was filled with joy from the Holy Spirit all while a student at Hope! Knowing how much God loves her personally, experiencing His presence, and getting to relate to Him more is her biggest joy. God has blessed her with an amazing husband who she met at Hope Church in 2017 and married in 2019. They have two wonderful kids with another on the way. Marissa knew since 7th grade that teaching and being with kids is her God-given passion. Previous to teaching, she worked at a craft store and then Barnes and Noble. When not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, being at Hope Church serving and worshiping God, drinking coffee with a good book, crafting cards, and thrift shopping.
